New to Cloth

GETTING STARTED WITH YOUR NEW CLOTH NAPPIES

To cloth nappy one child we recommend having
Part-time 8-10 nappies | Full-time 24-28 nappies
Cloth nappies should be changed about every 2-3 hours

PREP MAKES PERFECT

It is most important to pre-wash your brand new nappies as the natural fibres that are used in the inserts have natural oils that act as a liquid repellent barrier. To prepare your brand new cloth nappies, wash inserts and covers together on a 60°C, regular wash cycle, at least 2-3 times consecutively. Detergent is only needed for the first wash cycle and nappies don’t need to dry in between washes.

DETERGENTS

Commercial Detergents; use standard amount according to guidelines of detergent brand and your washing machine. Natural Detergents; it is recommended to use double dose for cleaning cloth nappies along with a necessary hot temperature of 60°C for main-wash cycle.

BALMS & CREAMS

Avoid balms/creams that contain petroleum, zinc or high amounts of beeswax, unless using a reusable/disposable liner, as these products can form a liquid repellent build up in your nappies over time.

SOCK MARKS

Sock marks (red marks), are as the name suggests, like the marks that are left around your ankles from your socks after wearing them all day. Sock marks are very common with the use of cloth nappies and are not a problem unless the marks do not disappear after 20 minutes, or appear very deep into the skin. Deeper marks can be easily fixed by adjusting the fit of the nappy.
